Itinerary

1

Start: Praça do Comércio, Lisbon (8:00 AM)

We begin our ride in the heart of Lisbon at Praça do Comércio, heading east along the Tejo River. We cycle through the scenic Passadiço do Tejo a beautiful wooden boardwalk next to the river. This stretch offers calm views and a peaceful warm-up before we continue inland.

2

Across the Tejo for a Sweet Start

We begin by crossing the Tejo River via the bridge from Vila Franca de Xira, riding through calm farm fields. Our first stop is the charming Casa das Queijadas, where we’ll enjoy a coffee and a delicious queijada. Don’t worry! We’ll return later to try another variety of this local treat.

3

Through Fields and Cork Forests

We ride through long, peaceful stretches surrounded by agricultural land and iconic cork oak trees. Depending on the season, you may witness local farmers peeling bark from the cork oaks.

4

Observatório do Sobreiro e da Cortiça

We visit the Cork Observatory to learn how Portugal became the world’s leading cork producer. This is a cultural and educational highlight of the day.

5

Lunch Stop in Coruche

We enjoy a traditional Portuguese lunch in the town center, famous for its slow rhythm and strong ties to cork and farming.

6

Sweet Ending by the River

After lunch, we cruise along flat rural roads toward Montijo, soaking in the quiet countryside. Before wrapping up the ride, we stop for one last queijada, ending the pedaling part of the day on a sweet note.

7

Return to Lisbon: Ferry Ride from Montijo to Cais do Sodré

We wrap up the tour with a scenic ferry ride back to the heart of Lisbon (included in the tour), taking in views of the Tejo River as we relax and celebrate the journey.
