Itinerary

1

Day1.Ride Through the Countryside and Passadiço do Tejo

We start the day cycling from Lisbon through peaceful countryside roads and small villages. Early in the route, we ride along the beautiful Passadiço do Tejo, a wooden boardwalk next to the river that offers great views and a relaxed start to the day.

2

Day1.Cross the River and Enter the Gravel Adventure

After crossing the Tejo River via a bridge, we officially enter the gravel portion of the route. This segment takes us along quiet gravel paths by the river, ideal for scenic riding with little traffic.

3

Day1.Valada and the Farming Region

Reaching Valada, we pass through farmlands where you might see tomatoes, grapes, or corn, depending on the season. It’s a flat and open section perfect for cruising and taking photos of the rural Portuguese landscape.

4

Day1.Climb Toward Santarém and Turn Inland

After Valada, the climbing begins as we head toward Santarém, a historical city perched on a hill. From here, we shift direction from the river and begin our journey into the central part of Portugal.

5

Day1.Join the Caminho do Tejo Route to Fátima

Past Vila Franca de Xira, we begin following the Caminho do Tejo, a traditional pilgrimage route used by those walking or biking to Fátima. This section includes more climbs and travels through small mountain villages and forested trails.

6

Day1.Arrive at Olho d’Água – The Hidden Gem

We end the day at Olho d’Água, a tranquil natural spring surrounded by lush greenery and fed by the Rio Alviela. If the weather allows, we can take a dip in the fresh water or simply relax by the river, soaking in the peaceful atmosphere.

7

Day1.Check-In, Shower, Dinner, and Rest

After the long ride, we check into a rural guesthouse, where you can shower, enjoy a hearty traditional Portuguese dinner, and rest for the night to prepare for Day 2.

8

Day2.Wake Up and Traditional Portuguese Breakfast

Start the morning with a relaxing breakfast in our rural hotel, surrounded by the peaceful sounds of nature. It’s the fuel you’ll need for a beautiful and meaningful ride ahead.

9

Day2.Ride Through Rolling Hills Toward Fátima

The journey continues with scenic countryside views and steady climbs. As we get closer to Fátima, we pass through small villages and might be greeted by herds of sheep or goats casually crossing the road.

10

Day2.Arrive at the Sanctuary of Our Lady of Fátima

A powerful and spiritual stop. We’ll pause here to visit the sanctuary, light a candle, reflect, and take in the peaceful energy of one of Portugal’s most important pilgrimage sites.

11

Day2.Lunch in Fátima

After the visit, we’ll enjoy a hearty lunch to recover and celebrate the accomplishment of reaching Fátima.

12
